Crosscut

Rather than just making a simple payload map for Team Fortress 2, I set out to try something new. I noticed that more and more levels started to add additional invisible walls on annoying places. In my level I tried to experiment with giving the player as much freedom as possible. I built several revisions of the level and tested the level with different players. Most players enjoyed the map and I often received comments on the nice style. As expected, having so many open areas proved to be a problem and this could only be fixed by creating a complete new map from scratch. What was set out as a nice experiment turned out to be a great learning experience for me. In the end the level played better than expected and it is still played on some servers.
